Travel - Airlines

IMPORT NOTICE- Don't get caught out like I did! When comparing prices on flights please ensure that you read and compare the cost of taking your luggage and sports equipment with you. Easyjet for instance do not charge any extra for ski's. All the other airlines listed below do. The charges range from £15.00 to £20.00 per set, per sector (each way). Please double check these prices as they do change. All the airlines have certain limitations on luggage and sports equipment, some insist you pre-book your normal luggage as well as your sports luggage. It is very important that you read the conditions relating to the carriage of luggage, of the airline you are raveling with.

FLEXIBILITY & AFFORDABILITY - In our mind these are two very important factors. Many of us as parents of young ski racers have a good idea of the training needs of our youngsters and realise the important of quality time on snow. However finding the financial means as well as the right time to organize this is something else. To help with some of the financial burden in relation to the travel costs we have researched the following options that are available. As far as flexibility is concerned we really do not mind what day you arrive. We realise that cheaper flights can be obtained mid week and we are happy to collect you're child from the airport on any day. Just book the cheapest flight you can, advise us of your child's time of arrival and we will be there to collect them. With us having done the research it just leaves you with the task of organising the time to negotiate with your child's school and make the various bookings. If you need any help just contact us.

You can take the late flight from Stansted Airport and arrive in Salzburg by approximately 9.20pm. We can collect you from the Airport and allowing for baggage collection you will be tucked up in bed by 11.00pm. This means you can train (or free ski if you are a parent) the next day and catch the 9.40pm flight back to Stansted that night. If you fly midweek and book in advance the flights are incredibly cheap. If you are coming for a longer period and at holiday times or perhaps you have booked late and the flight prices are higher. Check out prices to Linz and Graz airports. The drive to Radstadt is longer, but prices of flights are normally cheaper. Please note we only collect from Salzburg.

British Airways will be launching flights between London Gatwick and Salzburg on December 1. They will fly five times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays). Early bookers will benefit from round trip fares of only £58, inclusive of all taxes, fees and charges. It is an open-ended offer - as long as you book by the closing date, you can travel whenever you want and the website lists dates well into 2009.

Combine this with our early booking discounts or a bursary and you will be laughing all the way to the bank. Don't delay book now!!!

CLOSED DOWN BUT THERE ARE RUMOURS THAT ANOTHER AIRLINE MIGHT START UP OUT OF KENT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
New services from many airports around the country offering fabulous bargains. At the moment they only fly to Salzburg from Kent International Airport. This is a new service that will commence on the 18th December 2004 and will consist of one return flight a week on a Saturday. The good news is that they offer flights into Kent International Airport from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin and Shannon Airports. The prices are fantastic if booked early. Therefore if you can't get a reasonably cheap direct flight from your local airport to Salzburg. This is a very good option.

Another very good and cheaply priced airline, offering flights to Salzburg from Birmingham and Southampton airports. They also fly into Chambery Airport from Birmingham. Norwich, Southampton and Exeter, which is very handy for the BARSC Championships at Les Menuires and the British Championships at Meribel.

Again, If you are coming for a longer period or at holiday times or perhaps you have booked late and the flight prices are higher. Check out prices to Munich airport. The drive to Radstadt is longer, approximately 2.5-3 hours, but as Munich is not a holiday airport, there are bargains to be had. This is probably the cheapest option by far at busy holiday times. Please note we only collect from Salzburg but there are transfer options to Salzburg airport where we can collect from or even to Radstadt.

Another very good and cheaply priced airline, offering flights to Salzburg from Manchester, Coventry, Gatwick and Bournemouth.

Sky Europe offer very low prices from Manchester to Salzburg, They depart every Wednesday and Saturday and often have promotional prices starting as low as £0.00. It is not a mistake they actually give flights away free at specific times. They also have a service where you can choose your own seat for an additional charge of £3.00

Jet2 now fly to Salzburg Airport from Leeds Airport, they also fly from Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester Airports into Chambery, which is the nearest airport to fly into for the BARSC Championships, and the British Schoolboys Championships at Les Menuires, as well as the British Championships at Meribel.

Excel Airways fly Gatwick to Innsbruck from the 8th January through to the 16th April. Flights are on Sundays only. They also fly from Bristol & Manchester to Chambery on Sundays from the 8th January but only to the 9th April. Therefore this is not an option for the BARSC at Les Menuires and depending on the dates for the British Championships each year, may not be an option for these races.

Flight Agency offering flights from Gatwick, Stansted, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol, Manchester & Glasgow to Salzburg and Chambery from 24th December through to 1st April. For a quick link to flight times for each airport click on the following links. SALZBURG CHAMBERY

Please always check any flight information given on this page as it is not kept up to date.

POSSIBLE SPONSORSHIP ON SPORTS LUGGAGE
The only drawback to cheap flights when you are involved in a sport, is that in most cases you will be charged a fee for your sports equipment. This really does increase costs when you are making many trips all year round. We are currently in talks with some of the above airlines to see if they can reduce or even cancel the sports luggage fee, to our trainees who fly with them, as a way of sponsoring the Academy. We will advise you on the airlines who have participated in this, as soon as possible.

HOW TO FIND US
We will collect trainees and parents from Salzburg Airport. Alternatively if you are planning on staying for a few days or weeks, you may want to hire a car to explore all the wonderful surrounding resorts. The following link will take you to a road map of how to get to Radstadt and the Academy. We are very close to the 146/99 Junction. The 99 takes you to Obertauern and is sign posted. If you do plan to hire a car, please let us know and we will send you a map of how to get to us from this junction. Do not worry if you get lost we can always talk you in by mobile or send out a search party. I've been there and had the search party! Location Map
